We are very lucky at East Crinnis to have so many beautiful beaches on our door step in St Austell Bay. With the unique horse shoe shape you can always find a beach sheltered from the wind or more protected from any swell.
Carlyon Bay/Crinnis Beach
Our nearest beach to East Crinnis is approx a 20min walk, or a couple of mins drive to the car park. You can access the beach on the south west coastal footpath which takes you through the woods and onto the Carlyon Bay golf course (we can explain the way). Here you can access the beach on a steep cliff path down to the very quiet east end of the beach or walk to the west side which is easily accessible. On the west side you'll find seasonal (Easter to September) takeaways, bar, shops & toilets. Also Jet ski hire and paddleboards can be hired. Free live music events every Friday night. The beach is dog friendly all year.
Spit Beach
Again a walkable beach from the East Crinnis (over the south west coastal footpath) approx 25 mins, this little hidden gem has lovely golden sand and rocky ledges for rock pooling. No facilities here so always quieter.
Polkerris Beach
Our favourite beach for a family day out and epic sunsets over St Austell bay bay. Small little harbour sheltering the beach with a watersports centre to hire Paddleboards, Sauna facility or even try sailing. Limited beach at High Tide but great fun for harbour jumping when the tide is in. Here you will also find the Rashleigh Inn and amazing Pub and Sams on the Beach a fantastic restaurant.
Porthpean Beach
The most sheltered beach in St Austell and a great spot for sunsrise if you are an early riser. Lovely mix of sandy beach and rock pools and a good spot for seal spotting. Seasonal cafe and toilets with parking near the beach.
If you want to travel further we can recommend many beaches along the south coast or the north coast with the Atlantic surf is only a 30min drive away.
